Daichi Suzuki, the gold medalist of the Seoul Olympics and the first secretary of the Japan Sports Agency, is expected to return to the chairman of the Japan Swimming Federation.

The Japan Swimming Federation held a board meeting in Tokyo on the 12th, and approved 30 board candidates including Mr. Suzuki, which was compiled by the board candidate selection committee, for the board re-election to be held this month.



Approved director candidates will be officially appointed at the Board of Trustees on the 26th of this month, after which the extraordinary Board of Directors will determine their positions.



According to the people concerned, Mr. Suzuki is expected to return to the chairman.



Mr. Suzuki was 54 years old, won a gold medal in the men's 100-meter back swim at the 1988 Seoul Olympics, and became the chairman of the Japan Swimming Federation in 2013 after retiring from active duty.



In 2015, which was in the middle of the second term, it was decided to assume the post of the first secretary of the Japan Sports Agency, and after retiring from the chairmanship because he could not serve concurrently, he served as the first secretary for five years until last year.
