Boston had to win to take the quarterfinals to a seventh and decisive game - but the Islanders became overwhelming.

1-1 after the first period gave Boston some hope, but three goals conceded in just over ten minutes in the second period shattered the semifinal dream.

Islanders Brock Nelson fixed both 2-1 and 3-1, after passes by Josh Bailey.

A few minutes later, Kyle Palmieri managed to step in 4-1.

Tuukka Rask in the Boston goal could not resist the Islanders' forcing and the Boston players saw the match slip out of their hands.

A small hope was ignited when Boston's Brad Marchand reduced in powerplay and became the match's second two - goal scorer at the beginning of the third period.

But the Islanders kept their distance and were able to put the last two goals in Rask's empty goal cage in the final minute.

In the semifinal series, the Swedish back star Victor Hedmans Tampa Bay, who beat Carolina, is waiting.

Three teams out of four are now ready for the semifinals of the Stanley Cup.

Tomorrow, Colorado and Vegas will play in match six about who will face Montreal in the second semifinal.

There, the advantage is Vegas, which leads 3-2 in matches.
