With only one week left until the European Championship premiere against Sweden in Seville, the big question now is how the Spanish national team captain Luis Enrique will get his team together.

All players and leaders have been isolated and regular training has been replaced with individual, after team captain Sergio Busquets tested positive for covid 19.

It is allowed to replace a player due to a positive coronate test and Busquets looks to miss at least the two initial matches, a decision on whether or not to be in the Spanish squad is therefore expected to come soon.

Uefa requires either a negative PCR test or a vaccination certificate before both travel and matches and the fear in Spain is now that the infection will spread.

The U21 team can take the European Championship place

In the event of a spread of infection in the team, Spain may be forced to replace the entire squad.

Spanish media speculate whether the U21 national team could step in instead.

In the worst case, Spain must be completely eliminated from European Championship games to prevent the infection from entering the European Championship bubble.

Earlier this spring, the Spanish Football Federation asked the Spanish Ministry of Health, like the national teams of France, Belgium, Italy and Poland, as well as the Spanish Olympic team, to vaccinate its players to avoid contagion or even threaten European Championship participation.

They then received a no, but now the Ministry of Health has turned around and approved emergency vaccination of the squad, writes spanska AS.

All players and leaders will be offered the Janssen vaccine, which requires only one dose.

Portugal is said to be in quarantine

The reigning European champions in Portugal are also said to be forced to quarantine.

The reason is that on Friday they played a training international match against Spain.

Before the match, Busquets, who was later found infected, must have embraced his Portuguese colleague Cristiano Ronaldo and greeted all the players.

In addition, the players stood close together in pictures to market the joint venture for a World Cup in Spain and Portugal 2030.

Portugal still plan to play a friendly match against Israel on Wednesday, while Spain will play their match against Lithuania with their U21 national team
