Max Verstappen, who leads the Formula 1 championship just before Lewis Hamilton, was on his way to victory in the Azerbaijani capital Baku.

But with five laps left, a puncture caused the car to crash on the finish line.

The 23-year-old was outraged, kicked the tires and left his car.

The race was temporarily broken and at the restart Hamilton had the chance to take the lead and pass Verstappen in the total.

But already in the first corner he completely misjudged the situation, locked the brakes and continued straight ahead and off the track.

The Briton finished 15th and instead opened it for Verstappen's teammate Sergio Perez who won before Sebastian Vettel and Pierre Gasly.

The victory was Perez's second in his Formula 1 career. The distance between Verstappen and Hamilton is still four points.
