Sunday marked the start of the round of 16 at Roland Garros.

This eighth day of the tournament was marked by the defeat of Serena Williams, beaten in straight sets by Elena Rybakina.

Several players have qualified for the quarterfinals for the first time.

Serena Williams did not resist her opponent Elena Rybakina in her round of 16.

In two sets and a little more than 1 hour 15 minutes worldwide, the player saw her hope for the 24th title slip away.

It was the first time since 2018 that Serena Williams had managed to climb into the second week of Roland Garros.

In terms of victories, after Tamara Zidansek and Paulo Badosa in the girls, Alejandro Davidovich Fokina won his first qualification in the quarterfinals of a Grand Slam.
