The Mexican Sergio Perez has profited from the blown tire of his Red Bull team-mate Max Verstappen and won the turbulent Azerbaijan Grand Prix.

In his second Formula 1 success, Perez relegated Sebastian Vettel from Heppenheim in an Aston Martin and Frenchman Pierre Gasly (AlphaTauri) to their places.

Record world champion Lewis Hamilton (England / Mercedes), who could have taken over the championship lead from the Dutchman through Verstappens Aus, slowed down at the restart two laps before the end and missed the points in 16th place.

He was in second place.

Haas driver Mick Schumacher took 14th place.

With five laps to go, Verstappen crashed at about 300 kilometers per hour, apparently due to a puncture, while in the lead.

The Dutchman was apparently able to leave his car unharmed.
