In Arena Riga, Finland won against Germany 2-1 in the semifinals of the Ice Hockey World Cup.

And the "Lions" are in their second straight World Cup final, and third in the last five world championships.

This time they got into the fight for the gold medals by creating a 2-0 lead in the first period.

Iiro Pakarinen's shot found Mathias Niederberger in the German box office.

- Niederberger has conceded two goals that he could very well have taken, says SVT Sports expert Kim Martin Hasson.

"Not nice"

The second that the Eisbären Berlin goalkeeper let in came in the final stages of the opening period.

The World Cup gold hero from 2019 and team captain Markko Anttila won the puck at the rim, and played until an independent Hannes Björninen in the castle, and he made no mistakes.

And 2-0 to Finland after the first period.

- It is not beautiful, not entertaining, not beautiful - but very effective, says SVT expert Jonas Andersson.

- I think it is a terrible period in terms of entertainment.

I understand Finns cheering on Finland, but we would have said the same thing if Sweden had had the lead.

I think the rink size allows this type of defensive play.

I advocate a small rink, I think it will be more entertaining and faster hockey, says SVT's expert Mikael Renberg.

In the middle period, Germany reduced when Matthias Plachta scored 2-1 from the blue line.

The Germans never came closer, in the final minute - when Niederberger was picked out - Markus Eisenschmid had an open goal.

But never had time to get the club in the right position for control.

2-1 to Finland, who are now up against Canada in the World Cup final.

And so it will be the final prize from 2019.
