Finland enters a historic championship for the nation.

This is the first time they are participating in the European Championships.

But judging by tonight's genre rehearsal, it can be an unpleasant story for Finns.

When they were matched against 116th-ranked Estonia on Friday, not much worked.

Estonia won 1-0 and in Swedish Yle the defeat is described as "an embarrassing blow a couple of days before leaving for the European Championships".

“Finland stood for a real bottom line in the genre rope.

A corpse-pale effort ", the newspaper writes.

No victory 2021

Finland met Sweden this week and then it was Janne Andersson's gang that won 2-0.

Unlike that match, the Finns tonight put more EC-like starting eleven on the field.

The only glimmer of light that stands out is that attacking star Teemu Pukki played his first minutes in a month.

The loss against Estonia means that Finland did not win an international match throughout 2021 (on five attempts) before this summer's championship.

Finland enters the championship against Denmark on 12 June.

The other two teams in Group B are Belgium and Russia.
