Pep Guardiola, the coach at the Dragon Stadium, missed a great opportunity to win his third title in the Champions League yesterday, Saturday, by losing his Manchester City team in the final match against Chelsea, 0-1, who crowned the title.

German coach Thomas Tuchel's team won a third time in 3 different competitions in just one month against Guardiola's team, crowned the Premier League title, to lift Chelsea the major European Cup.

Since Guardiola's appointment in 2016, Manchester City has dominated English football, having won 3 Premier League titles, 4 Carabao Cup titles, the FA Cup once and the Community Shield twice.

"We competed incredibly well," Guardiola said after the final. "It was our first time here. We have to prepare to come back one day."

And the Spanish coach showed his acceptance of the runner-up medal with open arms to show what Manchester City achieved by reaching the Champions League final for the first time ever, after seasons of elimination in the quarter-finals of the tournament, after toppling Borussia Dortmund and Paris Saint-Germain on his way to this year's final.

But City, in the decisive final for the title, failed to beat Chelsea, who snatched a deserved 1-0 victory thanks to Kai Havertz's first-half goal.

Manchester City became one of the 20 clubs that reached the Champions League final but did not win the title, and this list includes teams such as Atletico Madrid, Spain, the three-time runner-up, as well as Stade Reims, France, and Valencia, Spain, both of whom reached the final twice without winning it.

In the five seasons that Guardiola spent as coach of Manchester City, the club, which was repeatedly accused of unfair financial play, spent 938 million euros in contracts, or more than one billion dollars, and brought in 315 million euros in sales. That is, he pumped a net investment of 623 million euros for the team to win 10 domestic titles, and continues to fail to achieve his main goal, which is to win the Champions League.
