The Swedish Paddle Association has applied for membership in RF twice before but then got the cold hand from the National Sports Board.

Lena Arvidsson, member of the board, says at the national sports meeting that they have especially looked at the relationship with other racquet sports such as tennis, squash, badminton and table tennis.

A solution of including paddle in any existing association has not been relevant.

- Forced marriage, it is never a good thing, says Arvidsson.

The motivation given by RF is that padel "has developed into a sport that can no longer be considered closely related to the Swedish Tennis Association's sports activities or any of the other racket sports associations' sports activities."

The halls can make the paddle grow further

Another question has been about the commercialization of the sport, where the paddle association states that the commercial part of the sport is very large.

- As a member of the National Sports Board, I can state that there are no problems with halls in any case, says Lena Arvidsson.

But companies should not run children and youth activities, but associations should do so, the paddle association emphasizes.

The halls provide a good condition for the sport to grow.

Islandshäst and Friskis & Svettis are also proposed to become new affiliates in RF.

However, rejections are proposed for e-sports, functional fitness, juiijitsu, bridge and chess.
