Sarah Sjöström told Radiosporten earlier in May that it can be difficult to defend the Olympic gold in the 100 meter butterfly and that the focus right now is on freestyle.

The elbow injury from the slippery accident in February has had extra severe consequences for the butterfly swim.

- It will be very fluid and asymmetrical in butterfly swimming so far.

But I can at least start swimming slowly in training, but you don't win any medals for that, she told Radiosporten.

- If I get the butterfly swim to work for the next three weeks, it would have been fantastic.

But there will be no butterfly swimming in the comeback.

"Most gentle"

- Coach Johan Wallberg says that she does not want to swim too many distances now the first competition and then it becomes natural to choose freestyle, says the swimming association's press contact Anna Hammar.

- She starts with freestyle because it is the training that she started with only after the injury.

It will be most gentle for her body and elbow at the moment and she will check how it goes.

Sarah Sjöström has another competition scheduled, June 25-27 in Rome, before the Olympics begin.

The 27-year-old has an exercise program she follows after the elbow injury to regain mobility.

- She has followed that program from day one for as quick a recovery as possible.

The 27-year-old is together with the pole vaulter Armand Duplantis and the discus thrower Daniel Ståhl Sweden's biggest medal jump in the Olympics.

In the Rio Olympics 2016, in addition to the gold in the 100 m butterfly, Sjöström also took silver in the 200 m freestyle and bronze in the half distance.
