Eriksson says that he and RF have had deep discussions with large parts of sports and with political representatives about the future, how sports should start their activities after the pandemic.

- We are starting to get a hearing to set aside funds for the forward-looking work, says Eriksson.

To be disposed of more freely

Of the SEK 1.3 billion that sports has received from the government for the first half of 2021, SEK 220 million has been set aside for future work.

RF now wishes to receive a grant from the government of approximately SEK 900 million to be distributed over the years 2022 to 2024.

- The 900 million should be available in a freer way than the compensation support.

It is the own sports association that knows what can be done, says the RF base.

Keep and get back

The forward-looking support should therefore not compensate for loss of income or save associations' finances, but instead be used to build up the operations.

- The purpose is above all to be able to keep the active ones who have not already left, especially the age groups where we lost the most.

But also for the work of getting them back.

We also have coaches and leaders who are disappearing and have gaps in terms of training and skills to deal with this situation.

According to RF's report "A year with corona", for example, sports activities for young people and young adults, between 13 and 25 years old, decreased by 59 percent last year and the sports associations were worried that the loss would continue this year.
