Nilla Fischer has been involved in the latest national team gatherings.

But for this summer's Olympics, we will not see the midfielder in the Swedish team.

She herself has informed the national team captain Peter Gerhardsson that she does not want to participate.

- I talked to Peter during the camp in April, and told him that there would be a small mini-Fischer and that I was hesitant about the Olympics.

Then we talked again last week, it was a good conversation, she says to Expressen.

Want to play again in front of an audience

However, she does not consider it a definite farewell to the national team but opens up for a possible continuation after the summer.

- It would be fun to play one last match in front of an audience, and a number of World Cup qualifiers await this autumn.

But we will see, she says.

The Linköping player started in Sweden's penultimate international match when Blågult faced the USA and won 1-1.

She was also one of the racket players when Sweden won the 2019 World Cup bronze in France.
