This came during the visit of the former Spain goalkeeper to the headquarters of the Dubai Sports Council, accompanied by his former Real Madrid and Spain teammate, Michel Salgado, and they were received by the Assistant Secretary-General of the Dubai Sports Council, Nasser Aman Al Rahma, and the Director of the Sports Development Department, Ali Omar.

The Dubai Sports Council said in a statement yesterday: “Al Rahma assured the Spanish goalkeeper of all facilities for investment projects in the Emirate of Dubai, including the sports field, specifically sports academies, as there are more than 300 academies in various sports in Dubai, in addition to the presence of communities. Of more than 200 countries who love sports and are looking forward to practicing it.

He added: “The Assistant Secretary General of the Dubai Sports Council gave an explanation to the Spanish goalkeeper and his team about the status of sport in Dubai and the efforts of the Dubai Sports Council in spreading the practice of sport and developing talent, as well as organizing various sporting events that exceed 400 events annually, and he also toured with them at the council’s headquarters. And they visited the innovation laboratory and the press conference hall of the Dubai Sports Council, which decided to host a press conference to announce the launch of the Iker Casillas Academy in cooperation with the Dubai Sports Council, during the next few months.

Casillas expressed his happiness to visit the country and return again to Dubai, which is a successful global model in the way of life and dealing with the pandemic, as well as in its passion for sports and the diversity of its community, which includes communities from different countries of the world, and expressed his appreciation for the warm welcome and feelings of love that he finds in every visit For Dubai.

He continued: “I chose Dubai to be the headquarters for my new academy because of its prestigious global position in the field of sports, tourism and a happy lifestyle, in addition to having all the means of success for any projects thanks to its standard of life, facilities and support for various projects.”

"The success of my friend Michel Salgado's experience in opening a sports academy in Dubai, and the growth achieved by this project, encouraged me to open my own academy in Dubai, as a center for the development of goalkeepers in the UAE and the region," he added.

At the end of the visit, Al Rahma presented the Dubai Sports Council gift to the Spanish star, which is the English version of the book “My Story” to His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai, and Casillas presented his shirt with the Spain national team as well as the Real shirt.
