For the Tokyo Olympics, a decisive battle was held to select a representative for the men's shooting rifle event, and Takayuki Matsumoto was confirmed to be a representative.

The decisive battle will be held at the National Training Center in Kita-ku, Tokyo from the 25th, with two players, Matsumoto and Atsushi Shimada, shooting a target 10 meters away with an "air rifle" and a target 50 meters away. It was contested for the total score of the second type of "Rifle 3 posture".

Shimada was leading the air rifle on the first day, but after the match with the rifle 3 posture on the second day, he was disqualified because the jacket he was wearing was harder than the standard, and the total for the two days Matsumoto, who made it 1772.8, made sure to join the national team.

Matsumoto became the top Japanese player in the men's rifle 3 posture of the adult Asian Championship, and was temporarily appointed as the representative of the Olympics, but at the record meeting to test his ability due to the postponement of the Tokyo tournament, he shot the Japanese rifle. I couldn't exceed the reference point set by the association, so I went to the national team deciding match this time.

On the other hand, Kiyoji Morikawa, who won first place in the final selection of the men's air pistol held in March, could not set a record of qualification for the Olympics by the 26th, and 2 of the final selection. Kojiro Horimizu, who has a record of qualifications in the ranking, has confirmed his entry into the national team.

After that, he commented, "In the future, I would like to build a practice centered on strengthening the'shooting'that shoots with one knee upright and aim to win a medal at the Olympics."
