Odawara City announced that it has decided to cancel the pre-camp for Australian athletes scheduled to be held in Odawara City, Kanagawa Prefecture for the Tokyo Olympics due to the influence of the new coronavirus.

The cancellation was decided at the pre-camp that was scheduled to be held in Odawara City just before the tournament by the Australian sevens rugby team.

In Odawara City, a female representative of Australia's sevens rugby team held a pre-camp, and last year, children in the city created a message of support and other exchange programs.

However, on the 21st of this month, due to the influence of the new coronavirus, the Australian Rugby Union contacted me to enter the Olympic Village directly without pre-camping.

According to Kanagawa Prefecture, the pre-camp for the Lithuanian athletes of the Tokyo Paralympics, which was scheduled to be held in Hiratsuka City, has already been canceled, but it has been decided to cancel the pre-camp scheduled in the prefecture for the Tokyo Olympics. This is the first time for me.

Odawara City says, "As a host town, we will continue to support the representative players and value the exchanges we have had so far as a legacy."
