Real Madrid striker Karim Benzema affirms his "pride" to have been recalled to the France team for the Euro after five years of absence, in an interview with the daily L'Equipe granted Tuesday, May 25 where he explains that in "three minutes" of discussion with Didier Deschamps, "everything was back to normal".

"We said a lot of things to each other"

Without wanting to go into the content of their discussion, like Deschamps a few days earlier, Benzema (33 years old, 81 caps, 27 goals) told the sports daily that he had the impression "of having made a big step" with his coach. after this exchange which gave him "hope" for a selection.  

"We said a lot of things. Things we had to say to each other for a long time. It was a good explanation, with important words", explained the one who will wear the number 19 of the Blues to the Euro (June 11 - July 11).

"I want to win a trophy with the France team," added Benzema, hoping "to bring a little extra touch to this force which is already there" within the workforce of the world champions.  

As for his integration into this world champion group, Benzema said to himself "sure that it will go very well": "I do not come to the France team to overshadow so-and-so or to take the place of anyone. The Blues meet from Wednesday at Clairefontaine to prepare for Euro-2021, with a first match against Germany scheduled for June 15 in Munich.
