For the second year in a row, Vansbro swimming is canceled due to the prevailing corona pandemic.
- We cancel Vansbro swimming due to current restrictions which in practice make it impossible for us to offer an event, but we also cancel with respect for the heavily burdened healthcare.
We do not want to risk contributing more burden to them ", says Tomas Viker, Secretary General of Vansbro Swimming.
Can implement "Home Edition"
The Vansbro Swimming website's website states that the decision was made after a close dialogue with infection control doctors, the County Administrative Board, the police and the local healthcare in Vansbro.
"Even if we can see bright spots with vaccinations and a downward curve in the spread of infection, deaths and inpatients in intensive care, there is not enough time," they write.
The Vansbro swimming race would have taken place during the weekends 2–4 July and 9–11 July, as well as elite swimming competitions 20–21 August.
About 3,800 participants were already registered.
They can either move their registration to next year or get back half the fee and instead implement Vansbro Swimming's "Home Edition".
