Randy Barne's world record of 23.12 from 1990 has been described as impossible to beat, but the question is whether it can not happen this summer.

28-year-old Ryan Crouser clearly intends to give it a try.

It was at the USATF Throw Festival's fifth round that Crouser received a shock that measured 23.01 meters.

The last time anyone hit over 23 meters was Barnes.

The other who has done so is the German Ulf Timmermann.
