• Dijon lost 4-0 at home to Nantes on Sunday night.

  • Kolo Muani, Coulibaly and Blas were the canary scorers.

  • The Burgundians will play in Ligue 2 next year.

FC Nantes will still tremble a bit.

"We have two finals to play," repeated coach Antoine Kombouaré in recent days.

The first objective is fulfilled since FC Nantes logically won 4-0 at the Dijon red lantern, Sunday evening, on the penultimate day of the championship.

But the Canaries have not yet saved their skin in Ligue 1. The point.

Nantes can believe in maintaining

It is now certain: given the defeat of Nîmes (officially relegated), Nantes will finish, at worst, a barrage.

But it is not yet known whether the Canaries will be able to grab this 17th place, synonymous with maintenance, next Sunday evening.

For the moment, despite their fourth consecutive success (they had won only five games before this series), they are ranked 18th, one point behind Lorient, Brest and Strasbourg.

Bordeaux and Reims are at two points.

The FCN will therefore have to take three more points at La Beaujoire in a week against Montpellier.

A draw could be enough but it will then be necessary to scrutinize the other meetings, in particular the duel Strasbourg-Lorient.

The Canaries wasted no time

Aware of what is at stake, the Nantes team attacked the match with their foot to the ground and managed to open the scoring in the 6th minute by Coulibaly, with a header, on a corner from Simon.

Facing a diminished and rejuvenated Dijon team, they then kept up the pressure and doubled the mark in the 31st minute through Kolo Muani, mercilessly following a poorly repelled ball.

The second half was duller.

The Burgundians could even have found the loophole.

Up to two flashes of Nantes Blas (90th), a good recovery, and Kolo Muani (91st), alone against the goalkeeper on a deep service from Blas.

The rediscovered realism of the attackers

Often mocked this season for its lack of efficiency, the Nantes attack has shown that it has regained all its confidence.

Kalifa Coulibaly, who started again, took advantage of his 1.97m to score his third goal of the season.

Randal Kolo Muani, author of a cold-blooded brace, raised his personal score to eight goals.

In the middle, Ludovic Blas was again decisive.

In defense, Corchia and Pallois were the most prominent.
