The European cyclocross championships will be held this year on the VAM mountain in Drenthe.

The organization was informed on Monday that the candidacy has been officially confirmed.

On Saturday, November 6, the elite women will compete for the European champion jersey, a day later it will be the men's turn.

The U23 and juniors also come into action that same weekend.

At the end of last year, the European Championships also took place in the Netherlands, then in Rosmalen with Ceylin del Carmen Alvarado and the Belgian Eli Iserbyt as winners of the European titles.

"The VAM mountain was well known in Drenthe, after the Dutch championship won by Mathieu van der Poel, it is already a household name in the Netherlands and is now also in the international spotlight", says Deputy Henk Brink from Drenthe.

The organization expects to receive cycling fans in November on the VAM mountain, built on a former rubbish dump in Wijster.

The climb has an average gradient of 10, with an outlier of 15. Van der Poel captured the Dutch title on the road there last year.
