During the spring, several ski jumpers have sharply criticized the international ski association Fis after they decided that the ladies are not allowed to compete on a large slope.

A major debate on gender equality has flared up and several prominent jumpers have protested.

In the wake of this, the Norwegian Ski Association has now made a new decision about its national team.

Instead of a women's national team and a men's national team, they choose to have a joint national team, VG reports.

The new national team will have joint meetings and a joint coaching team.

- We see no reason to split into two teams, says ski jumping manager Clas Brede Bråthen.

"Very dissapointed"

The Norwegian star Maren Lundy is one of those who criticized Fi's decision on a big hill and she welcomes her association's decision.

- We have worked together for several years, but now it will also be a nice symbolic act, she says.

VG writes that there will be several joint competition weekends in the coming season.

But the ladies will not be allowed to compete in all competitions.

- I am of course very disappointed.

It's absolutely incredible.

We are constantly told that we are not attractive enough to have the same conditions as men.

Unfortunately, it is difficult to achieve that when we are not allowed to show our best side, says Maren Lundby to VG.
