Manchester City star Raheem Sterling admitted that he and all of his teammates were frustrated at not being officially crowned the Premier League title yesterday at the Etihad Stadium.

City missed the chance to win the title at home after losing to Chelsea with two goals to one.

Stirling set the stage for City's victory by awarding him the lead, but Argentine teammate Sergio Aguero missed a penalty before the end of the first half, which would have had enough for Manchester to win the third title in the last four years in the Premier League.

In the second half, Moroccan Hakim Ziyech equalized for Chelsea, then Marcos Alonso snatched the winning goal in stoppage time.

Stirling said: "We were in a great position, it was a day to get things done, but unfortunately we did not do that. We had opportunities to resolve the match, but we did not take advantage of them and we were punished for that .. It is frustrating."

The penalty missed by Aguero was the focus of the conversation after the match, as he tried to deceive Edward Mindy with a cunning shot, but the Chelsea keeper did not fall into the trap and responded to it.

City’s historic scorer Aguero apologized on Twitter, saying, “I would like to apologize to my colleagues, the coaching staff, and the fans for wasting the penalty kick. It was a bad decision and I bear full responsibility.”

City and Chelsea meet again in the Champions League final three weeks later.
