Eden Hazard apologized.

The prodigy ally, Real Madrid's most expensive transfer, was surprised to laugh with his former Chelsea team-mates after his club's crushing defeat.

An image that had aroused the ire of several media as well as Merengue supporters.

Belgian Real Madrid winger Eden Hazard apologized on his social media Thursday to calm the controversy over the images showing him laughing with his former Chelsea partners after Real Madrid's elimination from the Champions League on Wednesday.

"I'm sorry. I heard a lot of reactions about me today and it was not my intention to offend Real Madrid fans," the 30-year-old wrote on his Instagram account.

A laugh that went wrong

Real Madrid were knocked out in the Champions League semi-finals by Chelsea, following their 2-0 loss to England on Wednesday.

The footage showing the winger laughing with former Blues team-mates, where he spent seven years (2012-2019), angered Madrid supporters and some Spanish media who immediately saw a lack of it loyalty after a crushing defeat for the Merengue.

This has revived the controversy around the player who is the most expensive transfer in the history of the club merengue (115 million euros).

Eden Hazard has only played 40 matches for four goals in two seasons where he was penalized by numerous injuries.
