The current restrictions allow only eight spectators in the stands.

The day after the final is played, on May 17, the audience ceiling will be raised to 500 people if the infection situation allows.

The Swedish Football Association is now appealing to the government and the Public Health Agency for a higher audience ceiling for the final.

- But 500 spectators is still much better than eight.

And since it is only hours before the new rules come into force, we have attributed the Public Health Agency and the government and appealed for a solution that makes it possible to apply the new audience roof at Gamla Ullevi also during the final match, says Swedish Football Association chairman Karl-Erik Nilsson .

Unique arrangement

The Swedish Football Association believes that this is a unique event and that a solution must be found.

- We are talking about one of the global women's sports' biggest events, and it is of course sad that it will not be possible to perform in front of packed stands, says Karl-Erik Nilsson.

- We hope that there is a will on the part of the government and the authority to show understanding, support us and take their responsibility to solve the very unfortunate situation that has arisen.

The Champions League final is a unique event, says Karl-Erik Nilsson in the statement.
