He will face his main rival, double world champion Sam Kendricks, and three-time World Cup medalist Piotr Lisek.

It will be Duplanti's first competition in the UK since he set a world record of 6.18 at the indoor competition in Glasgow last winter.

It is by the way the medal trio from the WC in Doha 2019.

- I am very expectant of returning to the UK.

I have fond memories of pole vaulting in the UK.

My first World Cup was in London four years ago and I set a world record of 6.18 in Glasgow just over a year ago, says Duplantis to the International Athletics Federation.

Isinbayeva broke two world records in Gateshead

Jelena Isinbayeva broke two of her world records at the beginning of the millennium in Gateshead, something Duplantis is well aware of.

- I have heard that the ladies' world record has been broken in Gateshead a couple of times.

If the conditions are good, we can hopefully cope with high altitudes, says Duplantis.

Kendricks has one of his World Cup golds from London 2017.

- We love to compete against each other and bring out the best in each other.

He is extremely difficult to beat nowadays and I love the challenge when the world record holder meets the world champion, says Kendrick before the meeting with Mondo.

Competing in Stockholm on US National Day

The competition was to be decided in Rabat, Morocco, but was moved due to the pandemic.

It is already known that Duplantis will also compete in Hengelo, the Netherlands, in a Continental Tour gala, on 6 June.

The Diamond League competition in Stockholm, the Bauhaus gala, will be decided on July 4, fittingly enough on the US National Day for Swedish-Americans.

The Olympic final is exactly one month later, on August 4.
