The Tokyo Olympic Torch Relay will be held in Kumamoto Prefecture from the 5th to the 2nd.

On the 6th of the second day, the relay on public roads will be canceled due to the spread of the new coronavirus infection in Kumamoto City, and the ceremony will be held without spectators.

The Tokyo Olympic torch relay will be handed over to Kumamoto Prefecture, and will travel to 13 cities, towns and villages in the prefecture for 2 days from the 5th.



On the 5th of the first day, a departure ceremony will be held in Hitoyoshi City, which was severely damaged by the heavy rain last July, and the relay will start at 10 am.



After passing through the Kuma River, which was flooded by heavy rain, the torch heads for the damaged national treasure, Aoi Aso Shrine.



In the next city of Minamata, we will pass through the landfill of Minamata Bay, which contains sludge containing organic mercury that caused Minamata disease, and move the sea by a fishing boat with a big fishing flag.



After passing through Amakusa City and Uto City, we will aim for the goal of the first day, Yatsushiro City.



On the 6th of the second day, relays will be held in 8 municipalities starting from Mashiki Town, which was hit by two shakings with a seismic intensity of 7 due to the Kumamoto Earthquake five years ago, to Kumamoto City, the goal.



In Kumamoto City, the relay will be canceled on public roads due to the spread of the new coronavirus, and the course will be held around Kumamoto Castle, and the ceremony will be held without spectators.



The Organizing Committee of the Games and the prefecture are calling for support through live internet broadcasting as much as possible, and we also want them to take thorough measures against infection, such as avoiding crowds along the road and supporting them with applause.
