Rikuto Tamai, a 14-year-old third-year junior high school student, won the 8th place in the diving World Cup, which doubles as the final qualifying and test tournament for the Tokyo Olympics.

The dive World Cup will start on the 1st of this month at the Tokyo Aquatics Center in Koto Ward, Tokyo, which will be the venue for the Olympic Games, and athletes from 46 countries including Japan are participating.



On the 4th of the 4th day of the tournament, a total of 3 events were held for both men and women. Of these, Tamai, who was nominated as the representative of the Tokyo Olympics, participated in the men's high diving final, finishing 9th in the semifinals on the 3rd.



Tamai finished the first half and finished the provisional 4th place by marking 77.70 with the big skill "109C" that holds his knees, which he is good at in the third run of the final, and makes somersaults in the front four and a half times.



And the last 6th run was aimed at the top with the big skill "5255B" which flies backward and twists twice and a half times backward, but it was disturbed by the entry of water.



As a result, Tamai totaled 424.00, and the World Cup, which he participated in for the first time, finished 8th.
