The Macron 2021 bonus may be paid by companies to employees whose salary is less than three minimum wage, or 3,700 euros net per month.

Totally tax-exempt, its amount is capped at 1,000 euros and 2,000 euros for professions in "second line" in the face of the health crisis.

The government has just decided on the terms of the Macron bonus for 2021, designed as a boost for the purchasing power of employees.

As in 2019 and 2020, this is a tax-free bonus of a maximum amount of 1,000 euros that companies can pay to their employees whose salary is less than 3 Smic, or 3,700 euros net monthly.

So that the so-called "second line" workers benefit as a priority from this bonus, its ceiling may, for them, be raised to 2,000 euros "if the company or the branch formally commit to actions to promote these workers. ", explained the Ministry of Labor.

The bonus can be paid until early 2022

Some 17 trades are affected by this ceiling of 2,000 euros, including health personnel, home help, commerce or security.

This may also benefit employees whose company is covered by a profit-sharing agreement in force.

The ministry has also looked into the possibilities of facilitating the use of profit-sharing and profit-sharing in companies with less than 50 employees in order to develop employee savings plans.

"The renewal of this exceptional purchasing power bonus, which benefited nearly 5 million employees in 2019 and more than 6 million in 2020, is an important new measure to strengthen the purchasing power of the French in the face of the crisis ", welcomed the Minister of Labor, Elisabeth Borne. To give sufficient negotiation time within companies, the bonus can be paid until the beginning of 2022. Its payment depends entirely on the company and not on the State.
