"Jean-Luc Vasseur had chosen these words, nine days ago, after the surprising elimination (1-2), from the quarter-finals of the Champions League, of his team, five-time defending champion.

OL management just announced on Tuesday that this “big stop” was accompanied by a change of coach for the women's team.

"Several discussions have been carried out internally in order to find the necessary levers to allow the team to finish a disputed season well in a complicated context", indicates the club in a press release published on Tuesday morning.

"Olympique Lyonnais and Jean-Luc Vasseur have taken the joint decision to end their collaboration as of Tuesday, April 27, 2021," said the press release, while the former coach of Reims, author of a hat-trick in 2019 -2020, was under contract until the end of this season.

Former major OL player, including captain in the first Champions League won in 2011, Sonia Bompastor has just signed up as head coach until June 30, 2023. Director of the Lyon women's academy since 2013 , the former international tricolor will notably have a first perilous meeting, on May 29 at Parc OL, with the "final" of D1 against PSG, current leader of D1.
