The new economic model, which was presented for the 2021/22 season and approved by Uefa last week, means that the world's largest women's tournament, the Champions League, will receive 24 million euros.
In addition to more money, it means a centralization for sponsorship and media rights from the group game onwards.
- This will strengthen the ladies' game throughout Europe, said Uefa President Aleksander Ceferin.
The new model also means that revenue from the men's competitions will support the women's games.
- This is a clear signal that the ladies are a strategic priority, says Ceferin.
According to Uefa, all clubs participating in next year's Champions League tournament will be able to benefit from the new model.
A team that plays in the CL group game will receive a minimum amount of 400,000 euros.
That is five times as much as the sum distributed to the team that plays the round of 16 today.
- We are happy to show the new Champions League to the world, says Nadine Kessler, women's manager at Uefa.
