The overtime was only ten seconds old when Victor Hedman shot the victory to Tampa Bay.

Brayden Point won the battle for the puck and found with a pass diagonally backwards to the Swede.

Hedman struck at speed and thundered in 4-3.

- Pointer served me a cruel pass and I had time and space on me.

It was a wonderful feeling, says Hedman to the NHL's website.

Hedman was also noted for an assist.

For Tampa Bay, eight games remain in the regular season - and then the fight to defend the Stanley Cup title begins.

- I like the way the guys work.

Now we want to end strongly.

First and foremost, we want to reach the playoffs and now we are one step closer, says coach Jon Cooper.

Tampa is third in the Central Division, one point behind Florida and two behind Carolina.
