Bayern Munich is negotiating with a new coach to succeed Flick

Two German media outlets confirmed, on Sunday, that Bayern Munich has started negotiations to appoint Leipzig's young coach Julian Nagelsmann as head of the technical management of the Bavarian team to succeed Hansi Flick next season, pointing to a record deal under discussion.

Germany's most popular newspaper, Bild, who is generally well-informed in the country, said that Leipzig, Bayern Munich's main competitor this year in the Bundesliga, is asking for 30 million euros to free Nagelsmann, 33, who is under contract until 2023

. The sports "Sport 1" indicated that negotiations had started and he spoke, on his part, about an amount "much greater than 15 million euros".

And if such an amount is finally paid, it will be the most expensive contract with a coach in Germany, according to the two media outlets.

However, the negotiations will be difficult, since Flick himself is linked with the Bavarian club on a contract until 2023.

Flick had recently asked to step down at the end of this season due to disagreements with club management over contracting policy, but he has yet to reach a friendly settlement.

Flick is considered the most prominent candidate to succeed Joachim Loew at the head of the German team's technical management after the European Cup, the next guest.

In this case, Bayern Munich, on its part, will claim a large compensation for the German Football Association.

The executive director of the Bavarian club, Karl-Heinz Rummenigge, warned in an interview with the Bild newspaper on Sunday that "if we want to respond to Hanzi's wish, all parties must find a common solution that also satisfies Bayern."

Promising coach Nagelsmann has never made a secret of his desire to return to Bavaria of his birth and one day coach Bayern Munich.

Nagelsmann succeeded last year in leading Leipzig to the semi-finals of the Champions League competition (losing to Paris Saint-Germain, 0-3), and contributed to his leadership this season to compete with the Bavarian giants for the league title.
