Sundby has twice played as a long-distance skier.

In 2015, he finished second in the Birkebeiner race behind Petter Eliassen.

Two years later he was back as the winner of the same race.

Now he will be in a newly started stable.

At the WC in Oberstdorf, Sundby was not selected in the Norwegian team but had to use his free space as world champion in 15 km in Seefeld 2019. That he finished seventh, only 20 seconds from the bronze, surprised him and was important for the investment in long distance running.

"One of my best races in life"

- Based on the conditions, it was one of my best races in life.

An achievement I am incredibly proud of.

Medal was within reach and it really gave me inspiration to continue.

Before, I had doubted and thought that this was my last season, says Sundby to Swedish Längd.se.

Both NRK and SVT will broadcast from Ski Classics next season and Sundby believes in increased interest.

- I have a strong belief that interest will increase.

Here, it also means a lot that Marit (Björgen) continues to invest in long distance running.

I also think we will see Petter (Northug) in some races, says Sundby.
