John Guidetti has had it tough in the La Liga team Deportivo Alaves for quite some time now that he has not had much playing time.

He has scored goals in the Spanish Cup and when he was loaned to German Hannover last year, there were also some hits.

But in the Spanish league there has been a long goal drought.

Today's goal was the first since he scored in a cross against Valladolid just over two years ago.

In today's match, Guidetti was substituted in the 72nd minute and twelve minutes later he scored the 1-0 goal after a free kick.

Alaves were on their way to victory at Mestalla, but in the 89th minute the home team Valencia still equalized through Jose Gaya.

After the match, Guidetti paid tribute to coach Javi Calleja, who joined the club earlier in April.

- It is the best football we have played during my time in Alaves.

We have the ball more.

It is a football that suits me, he says.

With five games left to play, Alaves is heavily involved in the relegation battle.

You have two points down to Valladolid which is below the line.
