The ATP tour recently went out with updated guidelines on the health protocol for covid-19.

Among other things, a vaccinated player who has come into contact with an infected player should no longer be counted as "close contact", which previously meant isolation.

Both the ATP and WTA tours encourage players to get vaccinated.

Djokovic has made himself known for his opposition to vaccination and opposes that it should be mandatory to compete on the tour.

- There are many alternatives when it comes to vaccines, but there are still shortcomings in the clarity about whether they should be mandatory, Djokovic says according to Reuters after his quarter-final win at home at his own facility in Belgrade yesterday.

Plays at his own stadium: "Novak Tennis Center"

The stadium bears his name: "Novak Tennis Center" and consists of 14 courts (three on hardcourt and eleven gravel).

He beat his Serbian compatriot Miomir Kecmanovic, 21, 6-1.6-3 on the red-rusty gravel.

Djokovic emphasizes the individual's free choice and does not want to tell about his personal situation.

- I will keep the decision whether I should be vaccinated or not for myself, it is a personal decision and I do not want to go into this game of for or against vaccines, which the media unfortunately makes headlines around these days, says Djokovic who does not want placed in some compartment although probably most people see him as a vaccine opponent.

Serbia's leading infection control expert has been concerned about the great influence that Djokovic has in Serbia.

- I do not want to be placed in a compartment for or against vaccines.

I do not intend to answer the question and hope that everyone will respect it, says the 33-year-old.

Last year, Djokovic suffered from covid-19 in connection with a tournament he organized in the Balkans - in violation of the corona restrictions.
