Bayern wastes the first chance to win the German League

Bayern Munich squandered their first chance to win the Bundesliga title by losing 2-1 to Mainz on Saturday and will have to wait until the Razan Pal Sport Leipzig match tomorrow, Sunday, to see if they win their 31st title in the local competition this week.

Jonathan Burchardt shocked the visiting team three minutes later when he turned around the edge of the penalty area and fired a shot that goalkeeper Manuel Neuer turned into his own net.

Mainz started the game strongly and hit twice in the goal frame in the first 18 minutes in light of the complete disintegration of Bayern's defense, although Neuer compensated for his mistake with a series of saves, through which he saved his team's face.

The resplendent Mainz, who had not lost in their last seven league matches, scored the deserved second goal in the 37th minute, with Robin Kwyson's header after a free kick.

The Bavarians dominated the game in the second half but did not create few chances until top scorer Robert Lewandowski scored his 36th goal this season in the last game of the match after returning from an injury that kept him away for four weeks.

Polish striker is chasing Gerd Muller's record number of goals in one German league season when he scored 40 goals in 1971-72.
