Giggs deprived of Welsh leadership in the European Cup .. He beat two women

Prosecutors announced Friday that Welsh coach Ryan Giggs has been charged with assaulting two women, and that he will not be able to lead his country next summer in the one-year-postponed European Cup due to the Corona virus.

A spokesman for the Royal Public Prosecution Service said the former Manchester United winger will appear before Manchester and Salford Courts on April 28.

"We have authorized Greater Manchester Police to charge Ryan Giggs with engaging in controlling or coercive behavior and assault that caused actual bodily harm," the statement continued, adding, "The charge of beating a second woman was also approved."

The 47-year-old former Manchester United star was arrested in early November after a falling out with his girlfriend Kate Greyville.

The Welsh Football Association said in a statement Friday that Robert Page, who has been in charge of the national team leadership since last November, will continue to supervise the team during the European Cup finals scheduled between June 11 and July 11 in 11 European cities.

The British newspaper "The Sun" confirmed early last November that the police were summoned to Giggs' house late after news of a disturbance, indicating that he was arrested and interrogated on suspicion of assault and bodily harm.

The newspaper quoted a statement issued by Greater Manchester Police explaining that "the police were called after reports of disturbances. A woman in her thirties was slightly injured but did not require any treatment."

The statement added that "a 46-year-old man was arrested on suspicion of violating Articles 47 and 39 with assault and attack."

But Giggs denied "all allegations of assault."On his girlfriend, according to a statement issued by a spokesman.

Giggs was appointed coach of Wales in January 2018 after a remarkable career as a player in which he defended his colors in 64 matches, winning at the club level 13 Premier League titles, two Champions League titles, four in the England Cup and three in the English League Cup with Manchester United.

But this black point in his record as a result of his assault on his girlfriend and causing real bodily harm, according to the Greater Manchester Police, who also talked about his harassment of another woman in her twenties, will pollute this wonderful career and deprive him of his country's leadership in its continental participation next summer.

"In light of this decision, the federation can confirm that Robert Page will take over the position of manager of the Cimru (Wales) men's national team in the Euro 2020 championship this summer and will be assisted by Albert Stuiefenberg," the Welsh Football Federation said in its statement Friday.

In turn, Giggs issued a statement claiming that he is innocent of the charges against him and is looking forward to his name being cleared, adding, "I fully respect the legal procedures and I understand the seriousness of the allegations. I will plead my innocence in court and look forward to the acquittal of my name."

Giggs wished "Bayeh, the coaching staff, the players and the fans all the best in the Euro Championship this summer," as the national team begins their campaign on June 12 against Switzerland in Baku.
