• The class 40 “Entrepreneur for the planet” sailboat, skippered by Sébastien Audigane, will participate in offshore races such as the Jacques Vabre transatlantic race or the Route du rhum.

  • He is currently training in Marseille and also serves as a support for the association "Entrepreneur for the planet".

  • The Marseille-based “Entrepreneur for the Planet” association connects business leaders with environmental project leaders to take concrete action on ecology.

A floating object well identified in Marseille. The class 40 sailboat "Entrepreneur for the planet" is the only one of this category to have anchored in Marseille, and more precisely at the CNTL, with the objective of preparing for offshore races: the transat Jacques Vabre, in November, then the Route du Rhum, next year.

He is skippered by Sébastien Audigane, six round the world to his name and co-holder of the world record on the Jules Verne trophy with Francis Joyon.

“This class limits the length of the boat, the size of the sails, the draft and the air draft, after which we do what we want in terms of architecture.

This boat dates from 2017, it is a 3rd generation boat on which we have made some modifications to be able to compete with the 4th generation of class 40. It allows to have competitive boats for offshore racing, with achievable budgets », Details the skipper from Brest.

Environmental scope

It is no coincidence that this boat is in Marseille, it is in the colors of the Marseille association "entrepreneur for the planet". "The objective of the association is to put together business leaders and environmental project leaders so that the business leader brings his entrepreneurial vision, and the project leader helps the company to better understand its role on the environment. We already have 160 projects on our platform and 70 have been mentored ”, explains Christophe Caille, president and founder of the association. Created in Marseille, it is expanding in Paris and Lyon and targets the largest French metropolises in order to offer mentoring by territory for more proximity and meaning.

If the boat is the standard-bearer of the association for the various offshore races in which it will participate, it also serves as a support for "initiation courses" proposed by the association.

“The first axis concerns the sea and we offer sponsorship of skills around sailing.

Company managers and senior executives come with Sébastien on the boat, and they offer them challenges according to their level.

They are thus directly reconnected with the environment, they forget their daily life and reflect on the responsibility they have towards nature ”, continues Quentin Gilles, director of this“ Experience ”section and member of the association. .

Other playmates?

The will of the association is to support this passage to the act towards ecology. "About 80% of business leaders want it, it remains to explain to them how to do it concretely", Christophe Caille framework.

For this project, they recovered a second-hand boat, which they upgraded by “challenging” businesses around Marseille on their environmental impact: reuse of water, reprocessing of paint.

It now remains to find a few partners to finance the offshore races.

While waiting to perform, François Jambou, who will duet with Sebastien Audigane on the Jacques Vabre transatlantic race, arrives this Sunday for four days of training.

“It will be a surprise, but the competitors know they can count on us,” warns Sébastien Audigane.

Who would still like to have two or three playmates in Marseille to polish the preparation before the start in November.
