The women's professional baseball league, whose management deficit is an issue, has decided not to hold an official game this season due to a shortage of players.

"Will it disappear as it is ..."

The Women's Professional Baseball League, which was established in 2009, has about 70 players belonging to 4 teams, and has played about 60 league games a year.

However, the deficit continued due to the decrease in the number of spectators, and after the end of the season, 36 people, about half of the players, left the team all at once, and the survival of the league was in jeopardy.

Since then, the number of players in the league has decreased to a few, so we were unable to form a team this season and decided not to hold an official match.

It is not the effect of issuing a state of emergency.

Koji Ota, a supervisor of the Japan Women's Baseball League, said, "The league is virtually dormant. I'm not sure if the women's professional baseball league will disappear or if it can be rebuilt after next season. I think I've played a certain role so far. "

On the other hand, regarding women's baseball, efforts to popularize women's baseball have begun, such as the establishment of an amateur baseball team by Hanshin, a professional baseball team, in February.
