"Exhausted" Real Madrid tied with Getafe and retreated in the title race

Badly hit by injuries, Real Madrid drew 0-0 at Getafe in the Spanish Premier League, dropping three points behind leaders Atletico Madrid on Sunday.

Real beat Barcelona 2-1 last week and passed Liverpool to the semi-finals of the Champions League but suffered from the absence of nine players due to injuries or positive Covid-19 cases.

Striker Mariano gave Real an early lead, but the VAR system canceled the goal for offside, but Getafe created the most dangerous chances.

Getafe hit the frame in the first half and goalkeeper Thibaut Courtois prevented him from scoring after brilliantly saving two attempts in the second half.

The draw disrupted a series of four successive victories in the competition for Zinedine Zidane's team, leaving him in second place with 67 points from 31 matches, three points behind Atletico, who crushed Eibar 5-0 earlier today.
