Tomorrow, Sweden will face world number one USA in an international match at Friends Arena in Stockholm.

The star-studded American team includes players such as Alex Morgan and Megan Rapinoe.

- Of course we want to win.

There will be handshakes before and after the match, but during the match we will do everything to win, says Megan Rapinoe to SVT Sport.

Never missed a World Cup medal

The USA landed on Swedish soil on Sunday and has so far had two training sessions in Stockholm.

Against Sweden, they have three straight victories - but the latest loss stings.

At the Olympics in Rio, it was Sweden that beat the USA in the quarterfinals.

- They gave us one of the worst losses we have ever suffered, and we have a long history, says Rapinoe.

- I love the rivalry.

The majority of the matches we play are friendly matches but I love when the matches become something extra, whether it is honor or playing against a top nation.

It's a great challenge.

The USA has never missed a medal and most recently, 2019, it was gold with Rapinoe as captain.

That same year, she was named the world's best player.

Asllani: Rapinoe is needed

But Rapinoe is not only known for her play on the pitch but also because she raised her voice in the debate on compensation and equal conditions for women's and men's football.

- Even if no one listened, I would probably have yawned about this.

But knowing how many people are actually listening makes me feel that it is my responsibility to continue talking about what I think is important.

Sweden's Kosovar Asllani, who also spoke about gender equality in football, is grateful for the work that Rapinoe is doing.

- She is a nice person who stands for her opinions.

She has taken a leading role in the United States on equal pay and that is what is required.

Such people need women's football, she says.
