Governor Hirai of Tottori Prefecture, who has expressed his intention to reduce the scale of the Tokyo Olympic torch relay, has shown concrete plans such as shortening the route and stopping the running of celebrity runners on public roads.

Regarding the torch relay to be held in Tottori Prefecture on the 21st and 22nd of next month, Governor Hirai has expressed his intention to reduce the scale so far and use the floating costs for measures against the new coronavirus, at a press conference on the 8th. I showed a concrete plan.



According to this, the route will be shortened in 15 municipalities in the prefecture including Tottori City, and as a measure to prevent infection, the number of spectators will be limited by prior application, and the torch will be held at the goal points of Kurayoshi City and Tottori City. It means reducing the events that celebrate the arrival.



Furthermore, it is said that celebrity runners will stop running on public roads.



According to Tottori Prefecture, it is expected that security costs will be reduced by about 30 million yen by shortening routes and reducing events.



The prefecture hopes to make final adjustments with the Organizing Committee to provide a concrete route next week.



Governor Hirai said, "I would like to ask for a thorough posture to become a torch relay that eliminates the risk of infection. Although it is not flashy, I want to make it a torch relay that has returned to the origin of the Olympic Games."
