PSG hit hard by beating Bayern, in Munich, in the quarter-finals of the Champions League (3-2).

His stars Kylian Mbappé, author of a double, and Neymar, with two assists, were decisive.

Just like goalkeeper Keylor Navas, still huge in goal with many saves.

DECRYPTION

It is a cliché of football yet perfectly suited to summarize the victory of PSG on the lawn of Bayern Munich: impossible to win without a good goalkeeper and good attackers.

Wednesday evening, the Parisians managed an almost perfect hold-up in the quarter-finals first leg of the Champions League (3-2) thanks to collective solidarity at all times, but also thanks to their individualities.

His two stars, Kylian Mbappé and Neymar, have lived up to expectations (and critics) with a brace and two assists respectively.

And Keylor Navas, the excellent Costa Rican goalkeeper, was again decisive with many saves to resist the German assaults.

Navas, once again fantastic

He is not the most media player nor the flashiest of PSG.

And yet, Keylor Navas is just as essential for the Parisian club as the stars of the attack.

Since the start of the season, the Costa Rican goalkeeper has been performing at a very high level, both in the Champions League and in Ligue 1. On Wednesday evening, the former Real Madrid goalkeeper was decisive on multiple occasions, s' interposing brilliantly against the many attacks from Bayern (31 shots including 12 on target for the Germans!).

Foot, right hand, left hand, fists: as against FC Barcelona in the second leg (1-1), Navas pushed everything back, to the point of disgusting the Bavarian attackers.

"Keylor Navas does that every week. The goalkeepers in the small district clubs can make big matches, but then they will make big mistakes. Him, he's always good. When PSG dominate and he has to make three saves, he made three. When it's 25 like today, he stops 25 (laughs) ", ignited our consultant Guy Roux in the post-match debrief on Europe 1.

Neymar, from shadow to light

If Navas has ensured his role as guardian of the temple, Neymar has perfectly led the game of PSG.

The Brazilian star delivered his first assist in the third minute for Kylian Mbappé, after a full axis breakthrough followed by a perfect offset.

And what about his marvelous center on the 2-0 goal, signed Marquinhos in the 28th minute.

But in addition to these high-class actions, which we know he is capable of, Neymar has completely changed his attitude compared to the last Ligue 1 match. Far from the bad kid who had been kicked out for a gesture of humor against Lille last Saturday at the Parc des Princes (1-0 defeat), the "Ney" was exemplary, stripping himself from start to finish and not hesitating to grit his teeth to stay on the ground despite pain for a good part of the second period.

"Neymar had sent his little brother (Wednesday) evening (sic). We would like to always see him like that," said Guy Roux.

Mbappé, again decisive in a big European

The other great man of PSG was obviously Kylian Mbappé.

With his double, the French world champion once again struck hard on the European scene, a few weeks after his dazzling treble on the lawn of Camp Nou in the round of 16 first leg against Barça (4-1).

"I like this kind of match. It hasn't always smiled on me but I'm not here to hide, I like to play this kind of match and to be decisive", reacted "Kyky", questioned after the meeting on RMC Sport.

Indeed, fate smiled on him Wednesday night, with two goals on both occasions.

Mbappé first took advantage of an unusual hand error by Manuel Neuer on his first goal (3rd), before doing everything on his own, like a great, by eliminating Jerome Boateng and then crucifying the Bayern goalkeeper with a shot perfect to offer the 3-2 and victory to his family (68th).

"Mbappé had a big game. He is passing the course that everyone hopes to see him cross," said Jimmy Algerino, the former PSG defender, on Europe 1. To cross the quarter-finals, the trio Navas-Neymar-Mbappé will have to be there again next Tuesday, during the return match at the Parc des Princes.
