The spread of the corona virus in Texas does not seem to have had a major impact on the baseball audience.

Before the Texas Rangers' first league match at home, the fans made a pilgrimage to the new arena Globe Life Field, which has room for just over 40,000 spectators.

38,238 people are reported to have attended the match, which was made possible after Republican Gov. Greg Abbott announced that the state would be 100 percent open a few weeks ago.

That the arena is allowed to have full capacity during the season has been criticized by US President Joe Biden.

- I think it's a mistake. They should listen to doctors, researchers and experts. "I think it's irresponsible," the president said in an interview with ESPN.
