It was in Sunday's La Liga match between Cadiz and Valencia that quarrels broke out after a situation between Cadiz Juan Cala and Valencia's Mouctar Diakhaby.

The quarrel led to Valencia's players leaving the pitch.

According to Valencia, Diakhaby had been subjected to racist insults by Cala.

On Tuesday, Diakhaby commented on the incident for the first time.

- A player insulted me, he called me the n-word, says Diakhaby in a video on Instagram.

"A public lynching"

Around the same time, Juan Cala told his version of events during a press conference and he strongly denies the accusations of Valencia and Diakhabi.

- This has become a circus, a public lynching.

It became a situation and I said "leave me alone", I do not know what he thinks he heard, Cala said according to several media.

He also says that he supports the fight against racism, but that he does not think there is racism in Spanish football.

- I can tell him that there is no racism in Spanish football between the players.

Each team has five or six black players.

I am in favor of supporting the fight against racism, but for me there is no racism between the players in Spanish football, he says.

Club critical

Valencia were quick to respond to Cala's explanation.

In a statement, entitled "Juan Cala, we do not believe in you", they respond to his response.

"Cala missed a good opportunity to accept his mistake and apologize to the affected player.

"Instead of doing so, he attacked both Diakhaby and other members of Valencia CF".
