Matsuyama, who came out of 26th place, took one eagle and five birdies on this day's heavy golf, but also hit four bogeys and one double bogey.
In the final round, he increased his score by one to a total of 3 under, but his ranking dropped to 30th place.
The winner was Jordan Spieth of the United States, who defended the top with a total of 18 under, and won the 12th tour total for the first time in four years.
