The French world champion Lucas Bernier won three gold medals at the conclusion of the third international competitions, Sheikh Hamdan bin Rashid Al Maktoum, for the People of Determination Badminton, which was unveiled yesterday, under the patronage of His Highness Sheikh Mansour bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Chairman of the Dubai Council Al-Riyadi, and competed for the 19 titles in the Al-Ahly Youth Club hall, 127 players representing 29 countries.

The final day’s competitions also witnessed the awarding of Egyptian Shaima Sami Jaber, Al-Arab, the only medal in the championship, after winning the mixed doubles bronze in the WH1 category.

Lucas, who is crowned world champion in 2017 and 2019, sent a strongly worded message from Dubai to his competitors in the Paralympic Games hosted by the Japanese capital Tokyo next August, especially as he registered his first participation in the tournament after a 14-month hiatus due to the Corona pandemic, and succeeded in arresting Gold medals for both the men's singles, doubles and mixed doubles.

For his part, the tournament director Majed Al-Osaimi said in a press release: “Despite the pandemic that has cast a shadow over the world and led to the suspension of the activities of people of determination, the wise leadership was a major reason for the return of activity for this category by establishing the Paralympic badminton championship, which is the first In the world ».

For his part, Frenchman Lucas expressed his pride in being in the championship, describing the current edition as exceptional in all standards, and said: "The organization was professional with distinction."
