Course of the match

After a quarter of an hour, the Bleues were already leading 21-0 thanks to a hat-trick from winger Caroline Boujard and the boot from scrum-half Pauline Bourdon (13 points).

After 35 minutes of play, the offensive bonus was acquired thanks to a fourth try built by the pack of forwards and concluded by the hooker Agathe Sochat.

Only downside in the first period: the exit on injury of winger Marine Ménager, hit in the right ankle.

The coach Annick Hayraud had to do without several players, including the twin sister of Marine Ménager, the third row Romane Ménager, who favored the French team at seven and played Saturday a Tournament in Dubai.

But the absences were not too felt.

Hayraud was even able to launch neophyte full-back Emilie Boulard (21), who also offered her first international try, in place of Jessy Trémouliere, voted best player of the decade in December.

Trémouliere nevertheless returned after Marine Ménager's injury.

In the second half the Bleues added four tries, including a double from the N.8 Emeline Gros.

Entering the competition "by marking the spirits"

"We worked really hard not to start the competition as we could have started for the last two years. We really wanted to enter the competition by making an impression, working hard and building our game plan."

explains Gaëlle Hermet, third wing line and captain of the French women's XV at the microphone of France Televisions.

"I think we validated some things today and it's rather positive. We will analyze this game, see where we went wrong and what we can correct for the next game against Ireland. It will be a trip and it is always complicated. We have two big weeks to work very, very hard and continue to rise crescendo in the matches to come. "

First international test for Emilie Boulard

"We had a great team performance. We reproduced everything we worked on during the week and that was the objective, the instructions from the coaches. It's a great victory and we are very happy. "

exults Emilie Boulard.

The winger honored her first selection and celebrated it with a tryout for her international debut.

"We felt good. We put our hearts into both attack and defense. We really wanted to find the DNA of being starved and I think we proved it tonight. We found one. nice collective and it was seen in our defense and our attack. "

explains Emeline Gros.

The third center line of the French women's XV, however, says that the team has "still things to fine-tune" and "two weeks to sort out all the imperfections."

After this victory eight tries to zero, the Blue take the lead of their group and will play a decisive match on April 17 in Ireland for access to the final.

The duel with Ireland promises to be less easy for the French but is not insurmountable.

It will be necessary to win to afford a "crunch" on April 24 in the final.
