This Japan Championship, which will be the representative selection for the Tokyo Olympics, is a "one-shot game" tournament in which if you break the standard dispatch record in the final and enter the second place, you will be nominated as a representative of an individual event. It will be held on a daily schedule.

The tournament began on the 3rd at the Tokyo Aquatics Center in Koto-ku, Tokyo, which is also the venue for the Olympic Games, and in the morning, qualifying was held for 5 events for both men and women.

Of these, Ikee, who returned to the competition from leukemia, took part in the first race of this tournament in the women's 100-meter butterfly qualifying.

Ikee gradually gained speed from the rise immediately after the start, and when he turned back to the top in the first half, he did not give up with a strong swim in the second half, and with a time of 58.68 seconds, he advanced to the semifinals in the afternoon with the top of this group and overall second place. ..

After Ikee returned, it was the second tournament since February to participate in the race in this event, shortening the time by 0.76 from the previous time.

The overall top was Ai Soma with a time of 58.38 seconds.

In addition, the men's 400-meter individual medley was 4: 12.67 by Daiya Seto, who has already been nominated as a representative, and the women's 400-meter individual medley was 4: 38.94 by Japanese record holder Yui Ohashi. They each advanced to the afternoon final in 1st place overall.
